Setting Scripts Folder Properties

Why Do I Need To Edit The Folder's Properites?

CGI programs or scripts cannot be run just anywhere, they have to be run in a folder that the web server 'knows' programs can run in. This is because most folders in your webs contain HTML pages or images, and the web server needs to know how to tell the difference. The following steps will show you how to tell your web server that it's okay to run scripts in a web's "Scripts" folder.

How To Set The Scripts Folder To Allow Scripts To Be Run

  1. In FrontPage Explorer, from the View menu, click Folders.

Switch to Folder View

   2. Locate the Scripts folder and right-click on the folder.
   3. On the shortcut-menu, click Properties.

   4. Set the Scripts folder to exectute:
      a. Internet Information Server 3.0: Click Allow scripts or programs to be run to add a check in the checkbox.
      b. Internet Information Server 4.0: Click Allow programs to be run, and Allow scripts to be run to add checks
                                                                  in the check boxes.

The Scripts Properties below is taken from an IIS 3.0 or below Web Server. The Scripts Properties below is taken from an IIS 4.0 Web Server.
